June 23 - Pin Cherry - Prunus pensylvanica

The Pin Cherry Tree - Prunus pensylvanica

  1. Is the fruit of this tree edible? Is it like the cherries we know?

  2. Hi Emma, Yes the Pin Cherries ripen in August and can be used in jelly and syrup and wine. I understand that it is best to get the juice from the cherry without crushing the seed. Each cherry has a single seed inside.
