May 28 - Witch Hazel - Hamamelis virginiana
The Witch Hazel Tree
The Witch Hazel tree provides much needed food for migrating birds and insects in the late fall and winter since this tree flowers very late in the year. The Juncos and Redbirds and Tufted Titmouse birds live in Priddy Woods all winter. Perhaps it is the Witch Hazel that lives here too that attacts these birds to Priddy Woods.
