The American Holly - Ilex opaca
The American Holly tree offers protection in it's canopy for birds from storms and predators year round. This tree is also an important source of food for many birds in the winter when most other food is gone. The songbirds that eat these berries are the mockingbirds, the thrushes, the catbirds, bluebirds and thrashers.
