January 16 - The Sourwood Tree - Oxydendrum arboreum

The Sourwood Tree

Evening's light on the Sourwood Tree

You can always identify this tree in the winter by the bending trunk with the distinctive bark of grooves and valleys as well as the dried flower sprays that remain on the tree until deep into winter. Get out into the woods this winter and look around at all the beauty.
