August 12 - Umbrella Magnolia - Magnolia tripetala

Umbrella Magnolia

Umbrella Magnolia
This Umbrella Magnolia rises over the observation deck at the Botanical Gardens in Asheville, North Carolina. The Umbrella Magnolia has such lush leaves this time of year, that it actually acts as an umbrella and shades the beautiful deck at the Botanical Gardens. You can sit on the deck in the shade on a summer day, watch the birds, listen to the water and smell the fresh air. This image shows the seed pods growing on the Umbrella Magnolia during August.
